Home » Getting There
Port Blair, the capital city of the Andamans is connected to Chennai and Kolkata by both air and sea. The most convenient and quickest way to get to the islands is to fly. You can choose to fly direct into Port Blair from Indian cities such as Chennai (Madras), Delhi, Kolkata (Calcutta), Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad using Air India, GoAir, IndiGo, SpiceJet, or Vistara.
Depending on the airlines chosen, the flying time is about 2 hours from Chennai or Kolkata. Tickets can be purchased online. For current flight schedules, fares and baggage allowances, look up the website of the airlines at Domestic airlines in India.
Note: Getting to Havelock requires first getting to Port Blair and then taking a ferry.
There are several ferries plying between Port Blair and Havelock Island. Those operated by the local administration will take about 2 hours to get you across. Tickets can only be purchased on spot at actual sailing date.
We however strongly recommend either Makruzz or Green Ocean instead. This is a more reliable option as tickets can be purchased in advance by us and the total sailing time will be only 90 minutes.
All foreign nationals require the Indian Visa to enter the Andaman Islands. The Indian Visa has to be obtained in your country of residence at the VFS Global Visa Center or Indian Embassy or Consulate, prior to arrival in India. We recommend to make the authorities aware at the time of application, that you will be visiting the Andaman Islands!
