Brief Definition
A Power of Attorney (POA) is a legal document representing a written authorization given to another person to act on your behalf in private, business or legal matters. It is an excellent option to hand over your responsibilities to a person you trust in case you come across uncertain situations in the future where your decision-making capability is hampered.
What is this Certified True Copy?
A Certified True Copy is a genuine copy of an important document that has been verified and certified by a notary public. While verifying true certified copies, the notary public precisely compares the original document to the copy and ensures that it presents similar facts as that of the original. In most cases, the notary public will make a copy from the original document.
Only Post confirmation of the document will the notary verify the copy and certify the same by dating, stamping and signing the document. It is also not mandatory for the true copy to be a coloured copy, but the notary may request only the coloured copy for verification in some rare instances.
Where is the Certified True Copy used?
A certified copy of your academic record is often required to prove your professional or trade licenses or post-secondary programs in Canada or even abroad. If you are applying for jobs in any government agency, you may also have to produce a true copy of your birth certificate when an employer requests it.
Parties Involved
The person authorizing another to act is known as the ‘principal grantor’ of the power, while the person authorized to act is known as the ‘agent’, sometimes also called an ‘attorney’ or a ‘representative’.Why is a POA Required?
